The Garmin on the bike shares real time GPS and other data via my phone and lets me post the tracking links to email, Twitter, Facebook etc. It also caches the data so if I lose phone signal it will catch up with itself once it gets it back. Doesn't use the phone GPS or mapping so keeps the battery usage to a minimum.

I'd say I'd be moving faster as well, but if I'm going uphill that's not guaranteed....
