But you can just pull out the ECM fuse for a few seconds

Not sure if I can be bothered. The light will probably go off of its own accord after a while, it seems, and leaving it on isn't doing any harm. I'll see about getting the car to the vet's instead
get an OBDII interface ~ £9 on ebay. Small enough to go through the letterbox so you don't have to be home.

That should give you an error code, a quick search on Google will tell you if its serious.

The mighty Mondeo had an exhaust recirculation valve sticking. Whipping the filter off and giving it a quick clean saved the £80 / hour cost. Once the issue is fixed then it should reset automatically.

I was thinking about that, but I'm not certain it's fully compatible with OBDII (it's from 2000), though a few quid to check doesn't really matter I suppose.

Then I just need to find out where to plug it in

Ordered one from Amazon for delivery tomorrow, and apparently the port is beneath the dash near the bonnet release handle

Morning Dissidents. Merc 2 transmission decided to go into limp mode on way to Portsmouth yesterday. 2nd gear home and to Car-spital resulted in 2nd hand replacement gearbox being required. £300 plus 5 hours labour, plus, plus, plus. Carma-Karma©
