I'm tempted to do the same with the two ancient TVs in my box room.

One is circa 1981 (a Finlux) and the other is a Sharp (circa 2003).

The one that died the other week, a Watson, replaced the Sharp.

Oddly there was another Sharp tv of the same model in the YMCA where I bought the £7.99 Panasonic, but it was on a stand & they wanted £30(!!) for it.

I've still got the unused stand for the first Sharp telly under the stairs.

An esteemed customer (3rd year) has just shown me a piece of veroboard with more dry joints than you can shake the proverbial tulipty stick at.

And a more unusual way of mounting a programmable PIC has yet to be found.

First, soldering the damn thing into the board is A Bad Idea.

2nd, subsequently soldering resistors across the top of it is An Even Worse Idea.

Well there's plenty of solder sticking to the pins coming through the veroboard.

Sadly, there's no, or very little, solder connecting said pins to the veroboard tracks.

I'm surprised he didn't try and solder resisters between the protruding pins and the vero tracks
