Probably - but if you know you're going to be without internet access for a while, then having it already downloaded saves the effort.

Premier Inn only gives you 30 minutes of free internet time, and sometimes that's just not quite enough

It would, I suspect, be considerably more hassle to get a non-fibre connection set up than to just stick with fibre. The phone hasn't worked for five or six years, as I stopped reporting it after the fifth time they fixed it. Other than that, it's pretty reliable (pace the hassle over Christmas).
Originally it was Rediffusion which then became British Cable company -> Maxwell cable company -> Metro Cable -> CableTel. CableTel bought NTL and rebranded as NTL.

There is a reason why I know all the above. It was useful back in 1998 as I requested NTL to prioritise my area rather than others during the initial cable modem releases....

Before it was NTL it was Cable & Wireless, before that it would have been one of Vidéotron, Nynex and Bell Cable media

Best money I ever spent was on a MiFi dongle (upgraded to a 4G Alcatel one thanks to Eek) and a Three mobile boradband contract, £15 a month for 15gb, they keep hoping I change tarrif or something as this legacy tarriff is much better than anything they offer at the moment!

I've got one, as recommended by eek, and it's an absolute godsend, particularly at ClientCorp. I'm connected via it now

Overheard in a meeting this morning:

"I need to discuss that with x, but I don't know where he sits."

                    "He's in India."

"Well that's why I can't find him then."

If I left the house, I might consider it.

But the only place I regularly go that it might be useful would be the in-laws. And since I struggle to get a 3G signal there, it wouldn't be much use to me.

So I'll just have to make do with the 152Mbps connection I have at home.
