Knackered. Eventful end to Christmas day, with mother now ensconced in the cardiac ward of the local hospital. Looks like she's got pulmonary oedema caused by heart failure. She's had severe stenosis for some time, but up till this evening it was asymptomatic, so they've left well alone. Now they're talking valve surgery, which for someone of 81 is a bit of an ordeal. Off to bed - will see how things pan out in the morning. At least I'm not at work till the 5th.

                  Thanks all

At least it kicked off at the end of the day, after we'd stuffed our faces and had a pleasant time.

Much excitement as a young muntjak deer gets trapped in next door's gate and can't get itself free

It's managed it now, though a bit injured, and run off over several gardens to the school playing fields across the road.

The RSPCA need to have a look at their SEO. You'd expect their emergency number to come up when one Googles "RSPCA emergency"
