This latest mishap has reminded me to get the documentation in order before I go. Now, all I have to do is remember all the steps for setting up the environment from scratch without actually going through the process myself. Then I'll email it to some Polish bloke and hope for the best

You're not far off. So far I've written "Edit the httpd.conf file".

I would go for "Update the httpd.conf to reflect the network configuration".

This gives you the get out clause that you can't give them the actual changes as that would require second guessing what the configuration is and sends them on a wild goose chase working out what they need to find out/change....

Good point. And you don't want to give the specifics because you are worried about the security implications.
