Well the current ones are 4th gen not 3rd.

Personally I would go for the mini (I went from a 3 which my wife now has to the mini) as its far more portable and great for reading in bed.

There was a 3rd gen refurb on the apple site but seems to have sold out (£315)

The ipad 2 is £319.

I've read a lot about the mini and people do appear to prefer them over the larger ipads

I take it that the Android Tablet is out of the question?

The Nexus 7 and Kindle HDs are nice.

I think its really a question of what app ecostructure you're a member of. If you've already got an iphone or 2 heading for ipads is probably the easier option.

Get the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Or at least try it at D*xons or Carphone whorehouse.
