    Now.

That useless p90 box has been "booting up" for the last hour & a half.
What are you planning on doing with it anyway? Need a doorstop?

Originally I was using it to run hyperterminal to monitor stuff.

Then the RTC batter died, turned out to be built into a chip, which I replaced with one stolen from another dead pc.

Since then it's turned into a challenge to make the fecker work again.

After which I'll probably scrap it.

It's just brought up the Win98 "Welcome to Windoze 98" splash screen.

It now only takes 5 minutes for it to notice that you've pressed a key.

      Wonderful.

It gets quicker if you wiggle the mouse about.

Down to a mere 4.75 minutes then.

It's currently showing the desktop with a big grey rectangle in the middle of it, plus the hourglass thingie as the mouse pointer.

I've never previously noticed that the hourglass has sand in it.

                  I've turned it off now.

Before I was tempted to chuck it out of the window.

Just had the "university" guidelines for the use & abuse of lifting equipment email.

It's about as interesting as it sounds. :
