That was close
I needed to book a hotel for my trip down to this conference in Brighton at the end of the week. The Grand is full up apparently, so I thought I'd try a place down the seafront where the folks from Opera were staying for the conference in September - judging by the place Opera put them in down in London in June, it seemed like a pretty safe bet.
Luckily I decided to check tripadvisor before actually booking. Now I know that everywhere gets the occasional bad review on there, so you have to take it with a pinch of salt. However the place had just one non-negative review out of about ten over the last few months, and even that was couched in terms of "It wasn't that bad", "I've seen worse" and "Not that dirty really"
For thirty quid less (£110 for the night, B&B) I've now got a luxury seaview room at a place down the prom with glowing reviews that speak particularly well of the breakfast
There's even a Jacuzzi in the en suite
