...ah, OK. We'll be expecting hourly updates on the situation.
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

Just a fish finger sandwich (well, a bap to be precise) this evening after I partook of ClientCo curry for lunch.

Although I have been tucking in to those pork scratchings I made last night...

Would that be a fish finger and chip butty?

Alas the chip component was missing

They are rampant. Having left them in the fridge all day a layer of fat has solidified on them quite nicely.

They are the perfect accompanyment to a bottle of WychCraft

                    Hi BI

I decided to enter uncharted territory and have steak and chips

Unfortunately, the cook in the pub doesn't know how to cook steak. A "medium" will usually come back charred on the outside, but raw (not rare, but raw) in the middle

On Monday I had to send it back; it came back rare

Tonight I went for "Medium-to-Well-Done". It was rare except for the bits that were à bleu

Luckily, I like it rare to medium. In future I'll order "well done" and just get a little bit of blood on my chips

Early start tomorrow, in order to make a reasonably early start home - well, about half four in the afternoon.

In London I'd regularly work until around 9pm so I could leave at lunchtime on Friday; here they close the building at 7:30pm

In addition, the permy manager said that although he was fine with the whole business of cramming the week into three days with a half day either side, there were others who objected to this; "As long as I continue to say it's OK, it's OK, but if somebody raises it..." were his words IIRC

I think this is part of the whole thing of permies resenting contractors. Funnily enough this is the first time I've experienced this; everywhere else I've contracted it's been accepted that I'm there as a specialist and/or a stopgap. Being regarded as an overpaid equal is a new experience, and it's even more annoying when it isn't even the people I work with (who regard me as a specialist stopgap, the way it ought to be) who resent my presence. If they'd just come and ask me why I'm getting paid x when they get y I'd explain it to them; instead they stick snotty notes in the "questions" box to be addressed at those "team meetings" that are supposed to make them feel empowered.

Anyway, time for bed now that I know about the recent showers at Liverpool Crosby - goodnight denizens
