I've been admiring the durability of their street furniture on my stagger into work... most of the connection boxes (the green things) are held together with tiewraps or insulating tape... obviously extremely well designed for long life & durability.

I've been admiring the durability of their street furniture on my stagger into work... most of the connection boxes (the green things) are held together with tiewraps or insulating tape... obviously extremely well designed for long life & durability.

Interestingly, I see BT Openreach have started fitting the NTE (Network Terminating Equipment) which was previously your internal master socket; externally in a bulky grey box with a large yellow test block in it. Left of test block is theirs, right is yours. Cable then runs inside to your first socket.

I know this because I had great fun trying to find the master socket in a friends new build house on Monday night.

Looks very sturdy though. (crappy pic here).

I still have everything (well, DECT base station and ADSL router) plugged in to the test socket - adds about 2Mbps to my downstream speed.
