Is it really dead in the water? I would find it very hard to accept losing out on a contract due to the opinion of one developer - do you think he might have felt threatened?

FWIW - sounds like ONE developer sounded very threatened by having someone around who knew what they were on about.

Yep. We had a free and frank discussion about folding beer tokens and my desire to keep them all, and how this could work with her desire to spend them all.

I now fully appreciate that I am totally and completely unreasonable, and furthermore wrong.

However, I think enough of what I said sunk in; and a compromise has been reached.

Is there no way to communicate that back to them via the agent or something? It really does sound terribly frustrating.

I think the PM has now got himself into an awkward position - he said everybody in the team could have a say in who they brought in, as a result of the contractor they had before Christmas having been a dead loss. I think this guy was the one who bore the brunt of that particular fiasco.

So it's probably now impossible to get anybody who will meet his standards, yet the PM would have to say "OK, your opinion no longer counts" and overrule him, which would cause bad feelings in the team.
