A certain software "engineer" has checked a file into VSS. Firstly it had the wrong encoding (UTF not ANSI); and then he checked it in with the date fecked on his laptop (CMOS battery dead as a door nail). Completely feckered the prior history of the file in VSS.

Weren't people talking about MS08-067 yesterday?

It's not surprising that bad guys would target a hole as nasty and gaping as MS08-067. What we still can't fathom is why anyone hasn't yet installed the patch. We're not ones to blame the victim, but anyone attacked by Conficker deserves a generous portion of the responsibility.

Yep, that was us (myself and HC). Questions are currently being asked as to why the patch wasn't installed at all sites - it had been installed at some, and they were therefore unaffected.
