I'm looing in a vague & directionless sort of way for a laptop with XP Pro and a non shiny screen.

I can't understand these shiny screens.

Didn't we spend most of the 70s & 80s trying to get non reflective screens?

it's my own domain, so I create email addresses that reflect organisations (e.g. tvlicensing@example.com) so I can tell if they ever get leaked to spammers.

I used to do that as well - it once allowed me to identify the perpetrator of some credit card fraud, although the credit card company didn't seem interested in pursuing it.

I stopped using such addresses after being on the receiving end of a flood of backscatter when my domain was abused by a spamming sack of tulipe, and I had to disable the catch-all address and implement an SPF record.

I'm contemplating buying Season One of Deadwood.

WHS are selling it for £20 at the moment.

But it says on the label "Episodes may be edited from what appeared on the tv"... I wonder why...

Excellent series that - Ian McShane is brilliant in it. The dialogue is incredible, and the sweary bits are good too
