I'm on the bench and loving it. Anyway, my flat got flooded last week by some morons 3 levels up, and being a new development, the builders are sending a painter around today. Her name is Carolyn!! The exclamation marks are because I have never seen a female painter before.

Well, my question is, if I was a lady in Surrey I might ask a male decorator if he minded 'touching up my skirting board in the bedroom'.

What is the male equivalent to a female handy-person?!

Tell her you have a flakey/peeling knob that could do with touching up.

Ask her if she needs a hand with her primer.

I bet she is fed up of male customers trying it on.

nah!! I only said I had never seen a female decorator! Have you?!

As for the suggestions of ahem, trying to have extra services with artisans in the home, I see no reason why that is restricted to the 1950s!
