    Count me in

I tried to find out by contacting the lady at Redstone who is still apparently taking Edge related calls but who has not actually returned any of mine even though I have been 'put on the list' a few times now. If you do have information on this can you please PM me so I can continue my digging into this side of things with my contact.

He also strongly advised that if enough of us from this forum were able to band together to pay for a professional top notch legal/tax professional preliminary representation (as TheDandy has suggested) which I am advised starts at about £7k so hence needing 30+ people it would be better to get this underway rather than waiting and constantly accruing extra interest whilst we wait to 'see' what happens next. If nothing happens then fine however how long do we wait? Having this hanging over my head for years to come whilst trying to keep up with constantly saving the interest doesn’t seem like a great option so I personally would much rather pay a small portion of a large fee to get confirmation that our scheme does not fit under the tax avoidance allegations HMRC are making and as I believe to be the case. I have PM’d TheDandy to let them know I am keen to get something underway so I hope there are enough of us here that are also willing to do the same to perhaps shut HMRC up on this topic and close it off for us at least once and for all or if not at least we have an indication of the next step.

Recently joined the group after receiving another letter. I would happily contribute to the group, barrister and The Dandy

Hi, i'd like to join the group. Ive just received my second letter (2008-2009 and 2009-2010). Was pretty shocked when I tried to contact Edge and found out they were no longer trading. Something must have happened over the past few months because they were answering my Emails in May. Was advised by an ex-Edge employee on Friday to join this forum.

Hi, I received my second letter for 2009-2010 yesterday and would be interested in being part of any group fighting fund!

            A Neewbie

Hi all, just joined after coming across this thread, some really good information here, makes one feel slightly better.....

I have also received a letter associated with 2009 / 2010, this is my second as I had one previously for 2008 / 2009.

Michelle advised that this time I should just send a simple appeal letter without any further details, so a simple 2 lines appealing their claim as I have already sent them the details in their previous claim against me. Is there anyone here whom is in receipt of their second letter what did you do? Did you send the full response again or a simple 2 liner appealing and asking for the total amount to be postponed??

I also wanted to say I am absolutely in favour of teaming up and contributing the required funds to take this matter forward professionaly if the group decides to follow this path, please count me in!

Hi I've just joined as I've also now received 2009/2010 in addition to 2008/2009.

I would also would be happy to contribute to a fighting fund / get some professional group representation on this - has there been any progress on this.

In the meantime I will, like others appeal this demand.

                Hi

I am glad I have found this thread! I have also today received a demand for 2009-2010 and became concerned on trying to contact Edge to discover they are no longer around. I plan to use the same template that Michelle gave me for 2008/9 and resubmit for 2009/10 within the next 30 days - unless you think Michelle's suggestion of a 2-liner letter is better.

I will also contribute to a fund - it looks like we will likely reach 30+ from the amount of posts coming in. Keen for this to go away ASAP but I know the key is not to panic and rush into meeting any demands.

All info much appreciated - equally so, anything I hear/learn I will post on here.

                all the best

                  Demands, demands

                  Hey all,

I just had a letter wit an enquiry for 09/10 and 10/11. Actually dated a couple of weeks ago, but since I am on the other side of the world it has taken it's time to get to me. Slightly annoying, especially as they have completely screwed up the 10/11 figures and are demanding more than I earned in the year....

I think I need to reply fairly quickly with a response, but don't have the actual text (as mentioned elsewhere). Could someone be kind enough to PM it to me (if the admin is kind enough to enable)?

Also, if there is a fighting fund that needs to be funded this looks like the best place to start - if anyone has details then I would be interested.

                  Thanks!

                    Hi All,

Michelle called me today and in effect she has stated that Edge is no more in the UK and we are not going to get representation from them going forward. She said that either way Edge were only there to guide us and that HMRC would pursue the contractors and not edge and that its best we get representation. Her advice was to stay together as a group rather than challenge this individually. As stated on the previous posts, she said a brief initial response back to the HMRC for the 09/10 letter would be sufficient stating that we wish to appeal and for them to postpone the collection of tax. I will be sending my reply in the morning.
