I have nearly completed my review of the very recent Tax Tribunal decision and will be discussing the full implications with HMRC Specialist Investigations Office in due course.

It is my intention to hold another seminar in London (following the one in April this year attended by 80 contractors) and is there a volunteer who would take on the task of arranging this with my services provided free of charge?

HMRC have expressed an interest in attending such a seminar to put across their point of view.

Due to the costs of room hire in Central London, we will need at least 80 attendees again.

The meeting would likely be held in the New Year by which time we might see some further developments.

Anyone who is interested to receive a copy of the decision in favour of HMRC is welcome to PM me.

1) I would definitely like to attend - if you could please PM me the relevant admin procedures (or post them on this forum)

2) Question for "Saleos" - will you be attending - ideal opportunity for you to meet and greet potential "customers" - lots of individuals seeking specialist Tax Advice

3) With regard to HMRC attending - If they really wanted to express their point of view, tell them to do it on this Forum rather than to a handful of attendees who are probably London based and are available to attend.

Received my nice brown enveloped Christmas card from Miss Stopp yesterday for 2009/2010 – appeal in the post.

I'm very keen to contribute to any group defence funding which needs to be made and also attend the session proposed by Michael J Perry.

This all takes me back to my student days in Glasgow and the Poll Tax; 'Can't Pay – Won't Pay'

As for HMRC Officials attending a seminar – can their personal safety be guaranteed?

HOWEVER , what she did say is that they don't interact with the case worker that is looking after your individual assessment , so as far as the case worker is concerned you will still be accruing interest, but on the outcome of the case, should it be that the HMRC prevail, this part of the interest ( from receiving your CTD funds till the end of the appeal) will be taken off when you commit the funds to the tax owed at that point.

Yes, that's also my understanding. I read somewhere in the HMRC manual when researching CTD's (what an interesting life I lead!) that the case worker has to establish whether you have CTD(s) at the time you agree a settlement and these CTD's are then taken into account in the eventual settlement figure.

Another in the same boat

Hello to all there,

I am also one from the same lot. Please count me in and add me in the list for any communication as well.

I had one last year for 2008-2009 and now this time I have two at the same time..one for 2009-2010 and one for 2010-2011.

I am willing to contribute to the pot when the time and need comes.

By the way last time around in end of February this year, spoke to Michelle and wrote to her few emails and got a good response.

This time, email for Edge bounced back, land line did not work, and Michelle's cell phone is ringing but not picking up.

Will be sending my appeal letters tomorrow by recorded post.

Can any one please confirm the address it should go to?
Should it be the same as on the letter I have recevied?

I was employed by Edge Consuting during 2009-2010 and as it tunred out also affected, received HMRC letter few days ago.. So I am joining this thread, and would like to have PM granted as I am interested in receiveing a copy of the decision as per Michael J Perry message sent earlier. If any session concerning this topic is going to be organised I am willing to contribute, and definintely would like to attend.
