You took advice from a non tax specialist when you joined a scheme and look where you are.
Now you have advice from a non legal specialist in an area that most law firms will not touch. I'm going to be bold and suggest that the HMRC guy is talking rubbish.
By all means try but you will need deep pockets, endless patience, immaculate records and a smoking gun in the form of a letter from [insert promoter name required] that says they have an HMRC clearance (attached), have discussed your circumstances (detailed in the attached) and can guarantee that the tax treatment is xxxx.

It has been discussed before and the general feeling is that it wouldn't work, you'd struggle to get anything off the ground methinks.Leave a comment:
