    Sanzar EBT

OK so I have just received a letter from HMRC asking for a LOT of money for year ending 5th april 2010 and 5th april 2011.

Have been in touch with Cobham and they have explained that they don t deal with Sanzar clients anymore. Has any one had this? And who do I turn to! Help!

If you have received this notice and are/were part of Sanzar please comment on this thread as we would like to support each other.

It is likely there are going to be ones for other tax years soon. Sanzar Partnership changed to Sanzar Solutions for the 2009/10 tax year, but I am not sure if that changed again as I left in 2009/10.

I would suggest reading the main thread on this issue if you haven't already done so.

Please bare in mind that HMRC (and a certain Miss L J Stopp whom I received the letter from) will be watching..

To anybody who's been hit for 09-10 and 10-11 assessments, did they come together or as separate letters at different times ?

Were you an 08-09 user too ?

Were the figures on your assessments anywhere near accurate ?

I was not on the scheme 08-09 and I have no idea if they are accurate - need to get an accountant to look through them! Are you guys using an independent tax advisor or using a fund for Sanzar? I am in complete shock since yesterday!

You should know by your P60 whether the figures which HMRC are talking about are accurate (I've yet to find one that was).

Sanzar was not an EBT!
HMRC were notified of the amounts of the loans via the P11ds and the fact that the loans were discharged, so they have a good idea of the amounts involved.

From memory, according to Sanzars the scheme worked because of the double taxation agreement between the IOM and the UK, which thier tax barister said made the discharge not taxable.
