HMRC Enquiries for EBT Loans from Cascade London

I have just joined. I have received a letter back in december 2012 requesting all details of loans for tax year 2010-2011.
The letter did not included amounts owed etc
I contacted Sean at Cascade who mentioned Hamilton trust will send out an emailed responce which they did. He aslo mentoned that if HMRC win's we as contractors must pay the fine.This email included what they plan to do regarding Kingston smith etc. I was advised not to respond to HMRC. I have had no further letter from HMRC.

My situation is slightly different.

Story below:
Basically Hays placed me on a contract BUT i HAD to use an umbrella company on their PSL list. I fought against this for some time but was told either I use their PSL list or I lose the contract. A bitter pill to swallow after resigning from a perm job. I was then advised to use Cascade. As cascade was on the Hays PSL could Hays also be liable regarding HMRC?

That is strange. I had the same problem with Hays but Hays did not allowed me to use cascade. I was really pi55ed with them for telling me this after I had resigned from my contract and thus did not agree with and lost the contract. Strange that they asked you to use cascade.

Anyways, I don't think Hays would be liable as they must have given you a list of umbrella's you could use.

I also did received the letter in Dec 12 for 10/11 tax return which KS replied. It is really wait and see how this shapes up with HMRC. After Dec 2010 law change I was thinking all this is behind us but seems like HMRC is in habit of "crying over spilled milk".

Recvd penfolds

Hi I have just rec'vd letter re 08/09 went to wrong address will contact cascade today not sure what figures people are being asked to repay mine is only four figures which is still more than I have as I'm a new mum ans on maternity. Can I have pm rights please.

I also did received the COP8 letter in Dec 12 for 10/11 tax return. Called up cascade, cascade answered me saying that its a normal practice of HMRC, and also mentioned that they have received the same letter for couple of others. They said they are going to reply HMRC thru kingston smith.
