Hi, Like others in this forum, I was refered to AML and got stuck now . Yesterday I received a letter from HMRC asking to pay (accelerated payment) .. Emailed back to AML today..
Has anyone one got any updates from AML regarding this

Have you actually received an APN or just the pre notice advising you will be getting an APN in the next 1-6 weeks?

I got the pre notice and sent it to AML who have said they will contact me when they have an update regarding it....

Its just the notice not the actual APN. Way back when I joined, I was told it was legal by AML

Now I'm stuck.

Hi, I think we are all in the same boat. When we joined AML it was drummed into us everything was legit and to be honest they did work within the legal framework. It because of the retrospective nature HMRC are adhering to that has caused all this.

To be fare with AML they are intending to fight this so let's just hope they fulfil those ambitions.

I would recommend to keep contacting AML for updates as this will make sure they keep up the pressure.

I will do the same.

These types of schemes made legal at some point right? And now this conservative government said its illegal. Tommorow when they win again, they may make more scheme illegal.

Legal or illegal is irrelevant to whether an APN is issued.

If you say tax is X and HMRC says Y then Y is the APN.

The question of legality comes later when you get to Court.

Even then you may have done something entirely legal but your interpretation is not as good as somebody else's.
