I've got the Fitbit scales, look great and wireless works great but it's doesn't seem that accurate, couldn't recommend it. The Fitbit itself had to send two back because the strap seems to have a weakness.

      Buy yourself an Infrared sauna

Far Infrared Saunas, And How Yours Can Make You Feel Amazing! - GreenSmoothieGirl

In August, 1981, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) stated,

“Many of us who run do so to place a demand on our cardiovascular system, not to build leg muscles. Regular use of a sauna imparts a similar stress on the cardiovascular system, and its regular use may be as effective a means of cardiovascular conditioning and burning calories, as regular exercise.”

A reasonably fit person will perspire about 250 grams in a 20-30 minute FIR sauna session, which is approximately as much as she would sweat in a 6-mile run! Of course you will drink water to replace what is lost, but that’s not the point: the cardiovascular system has worked hard to produce that amount of perspiration, yielding passive conditioning.

The American Journal of Medicine conducted a meta-review of all the studies on sauna use from 1966 to the present and concluded that sauna use is safe and has therapeutic value for healthy people as well as heart disease patients.

Dr. Imamura in Japan put 25 men with heart disease in a FIR sauna 15 minutes a day for two weeks. The results were: significantly lowered blood pressure, significant weight loss, significantly lowered blood sugar, significantly increased blood flow, lowered cholesterol, and lowered triglycerides. These results were published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology in 2001.

FIR treatment is perfect for those who cannot exercise or don’t have time, but it has many additional benefits for those who do exercise. (Note from Robyn: I’m a big believer in exercise whether you use a sauna or not—for muscle tone, which is not provided by sauna treatment even though cardiac benefit and detoxification is.)

Far infrared sauna treatments improve cardiac performance by varying the rhythmic beating of the heart, according to Mark Hyman, M.D. in UltraMetabolism: The Simple Plan for Weight Loss. The heart is the organ where many of the heavy metals human beings are invariably exposed to, are stored, causing many of our cardiovascular problems.
      Dr. Hyman states,
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone

Trouble with the body fat measuring scales the current only goes up one leg and down the other, so it only really measures the percentage of fat in your legs. So you can lose or gain weight and if it's not stored in your legs proportionally then they won't be accurate.

Or just get a sauna suit....

Alternatively, use cling film or bin liners and duct tape.

Get a fitbit. 5km is not enough. 10,000 steps a day is enough for most. I've lost a few kilos since having it without much bother. It's surprisingly motivational.

In fact if we all had them we could have a cUK leader board to see who walks the most.

Don't reply, just go out and buy one the now.
I need a bit of motivation so I'll have a look at this.

What walking and cycling apps do people recommend? I have used Walkmeter in the past but it's getting more insistent to upgrade and I think it's time to look again if I have to pay.

Endomondo and Strava are both good.

I like endomondo because it gives you graphs, and you can easily see what you've done that week/month

Maybe Strava does too, haven't looked into it.
