This report seems to entirely miss the obvious: that it's the parents that are to blame. Maybe the race element is that parents of ethnic minorities had a harder time when they were young and so push their children harder to succeed.
as the immigrants come from a section of their society willing to push themselves and move round the world they are more likely to achieve.
If your parents can get here from Afghanistan under a lorry then they are likely to have children who will work at school.
If your parents have languished on the dole all their life are they likely to breed kids that want to work at school?Comment

It is a lot to do with high ethnic areas, Tower Hamlets for example, receiving a lot of extra funding and attention which those in rural areas do not get.
Borough's school's 'among world's best'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-12175480The secondary schools list is topped by Tower Hamlets (£8,058 on average per pupil), followed by Hackney (£7,962) and Lambeth (£7,207). Knowsley in Merseyside receives the lowest, (with £3,790), followed by Solihull (£4,445) and Swindon (£4,563).
Those lazy welfare dependent white Brits of Knowsley in Merseyside eh? If we doubled the money spent on them to match that we spend on ethnic/migrant areas, that might work.Last edited by xoggoth; 18 June 2014, 09:39.bloggoth

The gap between the richest and the poorest has been growing - so has the claimed level of interference from the state. So clearly state nannying is good for capitalism!Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostWe can help more people to become rich by getting rid of interference from the state.
Why should we be helping anyone get rich, rather than helping them not be poor?Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

If we got rid of the right type of interference. Some state control is certainly necessary to prevent the big companies ripping us off and to stop the wealthy having advantages, such as tax avoidance, that nobody else has access to. All in favour of earned wealth as you are but we should not allow wealth to become privilege. We can help more people to become rich by getting rid of interference from the statebloggoth

surely by defining achievement by virtue of race is inherently racist?Originally posted by SpontaneousOrder View PostI can't see anything racist here.
Interesting that the African & Pakistani results have climbed appreciably maybe that is down to the money spent on them?
I would prefer to see everyone treated equally and support for the weaker be available to all.Comment

Achievement is defined by virtue of achievement, not by race. It is analysed by race as it gives an understanding of where the greatest need is.Originally posted by vetran View Postsurely by defining achievement by virtue of race is inherently racist?

But that would be racist, you'd be spending as much on British citizens as ethnic minorities, imagine the uproar in The Guardian!Originally posted by xoggoth View PostIt is a lot to do with high ethnic areas, Tower Hamlets for example, receiving a lot of extra funding and attention which those in rural areas do not get.

BBC News - What does the schools spending data show?

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment
