Dear me, each to their own and all that.

I pay no attention to what anyone else does and just focus on me and my business everything else is totally irrelevant, contractors are a mixed bunch much like permies but I don't waste my time trying to understand them and their motivation that's just wasted effort.

Remember someone on here getting wound up because some other contractor was coming in late and not performing and they wanted to get together and tell the PM. Well out of order this is.

We had one chap turn up at 10am most mornings reeking of booze. He had a hip flask and by would be drunk by 3pm. Still took management 3 weeks to can him.

As a functional alcoholic I've probably turned up pissed or severely hungover more often than not. I seem to have got away with it, although the ibuprofen ingestion may be partially responsible for my current predicament.

Insisted on working 9-10 hours a day to try to impress client regardless of workload. Client didnt even notice.

How do you know that this was their motivation?

Yep - used to boast about how impressed the client would be.
