Well yes, there is a problem in Islam, as I already said. But is this craziness going on in great big cities in the Islamic world or in the wealthier Islamic countries? Yes, but not much; in the turd world it's primarily rural inbreds like Abubakar Shekar; in Britain it's a few nutters who've grown up in cities where they fail, despite many others succeeding. As I said earlier, he and his lowlife chums are unlikely to attract and keep a relationship with a woman through their charm, good looks and wit; they need to subjugate women to stand a chance with them and they hate women because they've been rejected all their lives; Islam offers them that possibility in its extreme interpretations, but I'm convinced they'd use any religion or political idea that's prevalent in their region. Islam covers some of the parts of the world where there are huge numbers of young men with very little future.

have to agree to a point. Islam is young and many of its followers zealous just as Christians were a few hundred years ago. They did unspeakable things in the name of religion, now Christianity is the cornerstone of what many we would call civilised communities.

The reason why Christianity grew up and got less violent is the enlightenment provided by sharing of information and the resulting revulsion in the community to the insane methods used by the religion to retain control.

This will happen but we need to stop pandering to the nutters by treating them as the criminals they are and force the congregation to confront and denounce them.

We laugh now about the passages in the bible that accused homosexuals or non believers as obviously irrelevant twaddle..

We do see young men joing right wing groups in the UK, so why can't it happen elsewhere. And with a bit of a Saudi push. kaboom!

If they bothered to have conversations with people from different backgrounds or grew up with them, they would see that the media stereotypes are indeed stereotypes.

Sue I live in Slough - My neighbours & friends are every colour & class but none are extreme and dangerous Christians, Muslims or Scientologists as far as I know, they wouldn't be my friends otherwise. If you talk to them their morals & values are similar to ours which is why so many want to come here and so many are welcomed individually.

The point was Islam is still young and Christianity was just as bad until it matured, we both still have nutters (I'm sure there are aethiest nutters as well) but its more common in Islam because more followers believe the preachers rather than the faith. As more of the congregation identify the extremists and show distaste and distance themselves & their faith the quicker the religion will mature.

Pussy footing around and allowing segregated lecture halls for Muslim speakers at a public venue etc will allow them to stay in the middle ages.

Some here seem to be ignoring the growing extremism of political Islamism all over the world. Not just terrorists or extremist groups but governments. Take Malaysia for example, a nation that has always been seen as the most moderate of Islamic nations. Legislation is being pushed through that will criminalise use of the word Allah by others, although it has also been their word for god for centuries. Another recent ruling prevents non Muslims from being represented by anyone other than a Muslim lawyer in the Shariah courts. That's equality?

As for democracy, where does it exist in the Islamic world? Try looking at the details of the few that have elections, the chances of non Muslims getting above the lowest levels in government or the military in places like Pakistan, Bangladesh or the Maldives is zero. Or even Muslims of the "wrong" sort, the Maldives only allows Sunni Muslims to be citizens.

Throughout the Muslim world Islamic governments are becoming more extreme and more intolerant and there is a rising tide of violence against Christians and others. It was the archbishop of Canterbury, not Nick Griffin, who stated that Christians in the Middle East are being "attacked and massacred".

People really should try and check the facts from reliable sources rather than rely on illogical extrapolations about people they know.
