Well i've just decluttered about a hundred books in the direction of the charity shop. I need to be ruthless about favourite authors as well, if i cull those thats probably another 60 down. Way too many maths books as well, they aren't all good, time i went through those. And computer books. Do I really need a book on lex and yacc, even if it's a good one? Haven't written a dsl in C for years...

My nephew just does not play out. When he comes over his first words are "can I play on the laptop". I push him out and within 10 minutes he is back and asks the same questions again. I then give him a pen and paper and tell him to doodle or play with the toy cars. He'll do that for about 5 minutes and then comes back with the "I'm bored" line.Originally posted by doodab View Post

Hmmm. There was a film about the very real problems of children addicted to technology and consequences for their physical and mental health on at my local film club but It looked so dull I didn't go. Missed chance to pontificate, how annoying!bloggoth

Complaining kids can't use old toys because they only play with technology is a little short-sighted. They may not be great with old toys but they do have incredible IT skills, learned at a level that technology is intuitive to them.
