Seems to me it it would be a pretty low class of butler who does plumbing. You should ask your butler to sort it out and he then calls a plumber.

It's all back together. One flush and the syphon remains open.

They're quite nice wrapped in pancetta, I would have thought that PTFE tape would be a bit chewy
