I've never had an American refer to me as English. Irish, yes. To which I reply 'you must be Canadian'.

Good idea, but I would propose the following modification: "Great Britain" is a geographical term referring to the island on which England, Scotland, and Wales sit. It is not primarily a political term.

Great Britain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Northern Ireland" is a political term referring to the north part of the geographical term "Ireland" which is the name of that island.

So with Scotland gone, I would think the UK should be named "The United Kingdom of Southern Great Britain and Northern Ireland"

        Or: UKSGBNI

As I understand it, neither NI nor Wales are nations, they are a province and a principality.

          So English Kingdom would suffice.

BTW Didn't we do this a few weeks ago?

Are Britain, Great Britain and the UK the same country?

Here you go - Great Britain refers to Scotland, England and Wales, whereas Britain is just England and Wales.

                Looks like it's already covered.

UK will be the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland.

Then Ukip will merge with the BNP and become a bit less racist.
<Insert idea here> will never be adopted because the politicians are in the pockets of the banks!

They could merge with the Ku Klux Klan and they'd still become less racist

No, because the Clan is Scottish.
