I can ALWAYS find something to do in my 1st 2 weeks.Originally posted by Dallas View PostSome of the architecture diagrams I see floating around I'd agree.
Create a PID for my time in project. Create a project approach. Dig out requirements. Build a stakeholder map. Begin a process architecture document. Create a PBS out of the architecture. Create an Excel spreadsheet plan out of the PBS.
And invoice.

I normally set up a VM simulating client environment fairly closely (OS, using linux if it's a big boys unix, DB version, app versions etc) & read any relevant documentation & release notes for that version. If it's a dev role that will often let me get going planning some of the work. If it's a fault finding role I try and get a handle on their main problems which makes sure I'm ready to roll when the logins do come through.
Of course with a laptop as full of software toys as mine is I can always fill my time. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment

I hope you called him out on this. Unacceptable behaviour.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostSuch is the wisdom of my favourite LOUD PM this morning.
Apparently if you turn up on client site and sit twiddling your thumbs for two weeks because they haven't sorted out your access, you're behaving like a child.
