While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

I can ALWAYS find something to do in my 1st 2 weeks.

Create a PID for my time in project. Create a project approach. Dig out requirements. Build a stakeholder map. Begin a process architecture document. Create a PBS out of the architecture. Create an Excel spreadsheet plan out of the PBS.

        And invoice.

Come on people - you're just not trying hard enough!

I normally set up a VM simulating client environment fairly closely (OS, using linux if it's a big boys unix, DB version, app versions etc) & read any relevant documentation & release notes for that version. If it's a dev role that will often let me get going planning some of the work. If it's a fault finding role I try and get a handle on their main problems which makes sure I'm ready to roll when the logins do come through.

Of course with a laptop as full of software toys as mine is I can always fill my time.
