People thought that about Vista, but the reality was people refused to upgrade in droves and there's still heaps of XP machines around.

I've multiple Win7 boxes, my sons are all on Win7 and unless Win9 comes along soon and it's better than 7 without the bits of 8 people hate that's unlikely to change for quite a while

I installed it on a VM on an old, low-powered MacBook. I don't hate it. Took me about an hour to get used to it, and a few moments every now and then to Google "how do I do ... in W8".

I'm currently reading and replying to this forum using IE11 running in Windows 8.1

It's simply the best and fastest Windows I've ever used.
I almost never use the front end 'metro' interface (the 'big coloured button' screen people hate). Think of that interface as a Windows start menu horizontally rather than vertically aligned.

Top left of my 'metro' interface I've added a 'Desktop' button - this isn't some 'hack addon' it's allowed by the environment, a ten second job to set up. After boot up I click on this button 99.9% of the time and use a Windows 7 style (but faster and slicker) desktop containing...

Looks like the great 2014 summer sabbatical might start a bit early...

I've been at current place for less than 3 months and have either erased any chance of renewal, ensured an early departure, or secured a long relationship with those that hired me.

I gutted, filleted, deep fried and roasted a senior sales executive this last week for trying to stitch me up and get me to deliver too much too quickly. I forced him to accept a later delivery date in front of his boss, then delivered early and destroyed his reputation in the process. I think the guy who hired me had a long standing hatred for this guy so whilst he stood by and did nothing, I think he had his popcorn and enjoyed the show.

Could go either way but it was fun

It's been an interesting 18 months, but the politics has been getting me down recently.
