    There were two main thrusts:

    1) Lots of people who had done nothing wrong were having money stopped because of various cock-ups. The money was reinstated on appeal, but this could take weeks/months.
    2) Even where people were 'undeserving', it's not right to starve them.

Perhaps next time you sign on you could request food vouchers rather than JSA.
Wouldn't bother me. That's fine. Gotta pay for food anyway.

well I'm all for a restricted debit card. That way we can analyse the purchases so if its to be resold its obvious.

We need to house & feed. they can give up the booze & fags.

This sanctioning needs to be sorted, I'm rather hoping a civil rights lawyer sues them. Maybe Liberty can support the unemployed that don't fiddle with kiddies.

Especially in parts of Wales. And then moan that the romanians are coming over here and taking all the jobs.

Reality is the locals are too lazy and got it sorted on benefits to get off their arses and do crappy jobs. Really winds me up.

Some will even go so far as to set up employment agencies.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Didn't you recently sign on between contracts? Why didn't you get a crappy job instead?

I did sign on but whilst quite legitimately looking for work. We are talking here about people who have no intention EVER of working at all.

Think about. Take a job on minimum wage straight away means you're then no longer available for a decent job.

I think you'll find that legislation allows you to spend, I think, 6 months looking for your 'normal' type of work before they start getting funny and expecting you to broaden your outlook. Seems fair enough to me.

                  yep cannot agree more

all the state should provide is basic food, shelter and warmth

the rest you have to work for.

Can't stop people buying food in the shop with their debit card, then swapping it for fags with schoolkids outside the shop.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Yes, but then they don't have the food, and can't complain that "I didn't have enough money for food".
Also, things have changed from my days if the kids are standing outside shops with fags, instead of the old call of "Can you buy me 10 B&H please mate?".
