Perhaps I'm living in a bubble, but I'm blissfully unaware of any anti-Polish media coverage. I've seen plenty of anti-Romanian, but never noticed anti-Polish. Will more actively look out for it!

Really? Client co has hired half a dozen Eastern European guys on UK contractor rates in the last 8 months or so.Originally posted by mos View PostThat was the case up until 2012 but it has changed.
You blame? You have a persecution complex more like. Having a reputation for working hard is hardly a negative stereotype.I blame BBC sponsored anti Polish campaigns featuring stars like Farage, Nuttal, Dimbleby, Neil, Marr and Robinson. They anchor us as very poor, low skilled, willing to do the jobs nobody else wants for pennies. They take every opportunity to say something to that effect until everyone accepts it as self evident.
When you are talking about ~1% of the population then assuming the distribution of skills and incomes is similar in that group to the population as a whole it stands to reason that 98% of them aren't going to be in the top 2% of earners.
There clearly *are* lots of young eastern Europeans who are willing to do low skilled jobs, that's why you'll find them in every chain coffee shop, restaurant etc. We are seeing the same thing with young southern Europeans as well, and you'll see the same thing in Germany, Switzerland and other relatively high wage countries. This is what happens when you have free movement of labour between areas with wide disparity in wages.
It doesn't mean those who do have skills are excluded from the higher end of the jobs market, in fact I'd argue that it means the exact opposite as skilled people are proportionally more likely to migrate. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. The last few quarters saw the EU/non EU ratio rapidly approaching 1, however historically it stood at 1/5. I still do not fully understand the root cause of this very recent trend and I am trying to obtain reliable data.Originally posted by doodab View PostAccording to the latest figures 532,000 people came to Britain last year, 244,000 from outside the EU and 209,000 from within it. That's not 20%, it's almost 50%.
You also have to look why people come here (half of all non-EU migrants are students, whereas only around 20% of EU migrants are) and if they go home. When you factor that in, we have a net inflow of 130,000 EU citizens a year.
Non EU immigrants are using venue which is available to them and the 'student' status not always should be taken at face value BBC Panorama Immigration Undercover The Student Visa Scandal In UK - YouTube. Equally, 'highly skilled' visa may not always be awarded to those who are actually skilled.Last edited by mos; 2 March 2014, 14:05.If UKIP are the answer, then it must have been a very stupid question.Comment

I suspect you're not in the running for the "best jobs" because you're not bright enough, as your posts show.Originally posted by mos View PostIt has nothing to do with reality. It only benefits immigrants from Subcontinent who continue to occupy best jobs while we are pushed into broom closet.

Total EU migration roughly doubled between 2003 and 2004 and tripled between 2003 and 2007. EU15 migration increased slightly over the same period. I wonder what happened in 2004?
EUROPA - The History of the European Union
Non-EU, and specifically commonwealth, migration has fallen because the current government have a policy of reducing migration. EU migration numbers haven't fallen because there is nothing they can do about them currently.Last edited by doodab; 2 March 2014, 14:25.While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. No, I read this,Originally posted by mos View PostYou must have misunderstood me. I do not dispute the fact that there is Polish minority in the UK.
understood perfectly well and offered you an explanation. EU migration tripled, commonwealth migration down more than 50% over the same period = big change in the ratio of EU to non EU immigrants.I still do not fully understand the root cause of this very recent trend and I am trying to obtain reliable data. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you.
