Support for Scottish independence rises after London warns on pound
Not following (sorry). If Scotland rises as a new independent country and people who were British ex-pats decide they want to be Scottish ex-pats(!) then why is it the UK's problem what happens to them?
For support and advice about becoming ('legally') Scottish then you should be speaking to the Scottish government, surely?
That only a problem for Mrs Scooter. Not the rest of the family. There is no requirement form Westminster, as it stands, for former UK citizens to give up their passport. Unless Westminster decide that is the case for those born in Scotland. That would say a lot about out the strong ties we've formed over 300 years, which and independent Scotland would be looking to maintain whilst Westminster would think of Scotland as a foreign country.

According to the post made here today, thousands of expats from Scotland shall become stateless if Scotland selects independence. And this fraternity thinks I should be putting up the bunting in celebration.
Where was that posted? In the mind of scooter only I'm afraid. I was quite clear that I thought they should be offered a choice of citizenship whether they are expats or not. But I see no reason why anyone should automatically be entitled to dual citizenship just because it suits them.
Let's not forget it's the SNP who want to tear the UK apart and take several million people off on a journey of "independence". It's time these people woke up and realised what being independent actually entails.

We'll be thinking of it as a foreign country because it's declaring itself a foreign country. If Scotland doesn't want to be a foreign country then it shouldn't vote to become one.

Look up what happened to the Jews in 1930's Germany. You might be surprised.
I did live in Berlin. I'm all too aware the social restrictions applied to people during the early 30's.
I think you might be confusing persecution with murder.

I'm beginning to understand what it might have felt like to be Jewish in 1930's Germany.
You should be ashamed!
Are you aware that, by ridiculing the Holocaust by comparing it to the Scottish cause, you are committing "Holocaustleugnung" and you risk up to 5 years in prison in Germany?

And if I don't choose? I feel like we've been here before. Will someone choose for me?

Leaving aside Scooper's nonsense, I expect that everyone would keep their existing (ie UK) citizenship unless they wish to change it to Scottish. Anyone born in Scotland would get Scottish citizenship but would be eligible for UK citizenship through their parents. And obviously Scotland would stop issuing British passports and start issuing British ones, but any current passports would still be valid.
They're not going to do some massive switchover, it'll be phased in as necessary.
