I totally agree and that's the part I'm surprised at - that we are agreeing rather than being swamped with a load of "my little sweetums is always the only thing on my mind" silliness. This very sadly comes under the category of "tulip happens" in my book, being convicted of a crime in such a case seems pretty unjustified and rather pointless considering.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostHorribly shocking because it could happen to any of us. In response to @ohldoliketobe, who commented "@fourhourtarget Couldn't get to the end. I know it happens, but those descriptions. Those poor parents", he added "It's unimaginably awful. Yep - wonder how many more must have done it and got away with it.Originally posted by DaveB View PostAs case of "There but for the grace of god, go I."
As the article said, the move of babies from front to back seat because of passenger airbags makes it very easy to forget they're there if they're asleep, you're distracted and dropping them off isn't part of your normal routine.
I know I got half way home having left my newborn in his pram at the post office when he was a few weeks old.
As recently as last week I've got home having forgotten to collect a (almost adult) child from somewhere.
Thank fck we have such tulip weather here!Comment

<grim>At the risk of being extremely cynical, I wonder how many of those deaths are not accidental. People do kill their babies - or are happy/glad for them to die even if they can't do it directly - we see that in the news. And this seems like a perfect way to do it that would be impossible to prove wasn't an accident.</grim>

That's why there's a trial. Not a very 'safe' way to do it - the chances of someone spotting the child must be pretty high.Originally posted by d000hg View Post<grim>At the risk of being extremely cynical, I wonder how many of those deaths are not accidental. First one awful. Wish I'd never read that (as Dad of 7 month old).
Wonder if I can get one of those alarm things that they mention? i.e. if something is on back seat.Last edited by psychocandy; 14 January 2014, 10:25.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

I think it said they did not get made in the end because of the legal ramifications if they failed and a child died because there was no warning.Originally posted by psychocandy View PostFirst one awful. Wish I'd never read that (as Dad of 7 month old).
