When should I start feeling old?

I'm 44 and still free pretty young. My body is simply not keeping up with the reality in my head.
I do free weights, swimming and skiing. When I first started doing weights (mainly to protect my neck from slipped disks - see the "worst pain" thread), after a couple of weeks the muscles in my arms, neck and shoulder had toned up wonderfully. As has already been said, being physically fit feels *good*.
Having said that, once you reach a certain age, if you wake up in the morning and something doesn't hurt - then you've died during the night.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Can't drink like I used to. Can't play football any more, knees and hips are shot.
I'm quite into kettlercise and cycling, but everything getting much more gentle.
I just can't push myself as hard as I used to. Should I be able to push myself, being only 37, or is 37 very nearly 40 and I should just accept it and STFU?
Obviously it's down to your genes, and there are some folks on here who are well into their 50s doing iron men comps, but I'm on about normal schmo's.
I'm only assuming you're winding down towards something like this 64 year old and you're disappointed you can no longer do a 3 hour marathon.

I know, and I look so young! Funny thing - my wife is older than me, but most people think she is in her early twenties. Since our son is 22 that would be weird.Originally posted by mudskipper View Post

You're as old as the women you feel, just make sure you don't rest your newspaper on their head or you might end up with a slappingSocialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

I think the fact that you had a grown up son made me assume you were more mature in years. Which is very hypocritical, as mine's 28 and I'm 45.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostI know, and I look so young! Although HyperD was just laughing at me being old because apparently I groan every time I get out my chair.
