Are you waiting for a bed to become vacant - lovely I know- or is it a paperwork thing? While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment

Thats a real bummer to hear and I feel for you. You're taking this with strength, humour and dignity and can only applaud you.
I once spent 6 months in hospital including a few weeks in intensive care and I know it can be one of the most depressing things to happen. Although the stay is meant to make you better, the actual stay doesn't make it better due to both the circumstances and the surroundings. I managed to get a weekend home towards the end and that helped a lot by having familiar surroundings. I think though I was pretty lucky as I ended up in ward with only 4 beds and they tended to be people of my age group (except the plonker who crashed his Maserati with his mistress in it which could great mirth when he had visiting hours, mistress walked out, wife walked in.) I was in before the Internet and all those niceties we take for granted but had my own television, my guitar and synthesiser were brought in and I managed to keep busy and occupied which helps a lot ( I also had a few bottles of beer in my locker and we had small parties each Saturday which was fun especially when it became a teaching ward and so had quite a few student nurses on it.)“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

Can you escape the ward at all? Can you be wheeled out somewhere quieter? Day room? Garden?
Anything practical anyone here can do to help?Comment

Are hospitals reasonably secure? I'm wondering about taking my laptop, though in reality I'm quite happy to get by with the internet on my phone. Though I'd put money on not being able to get a signal once I'm there. The material prosperity of a nation is not an abiding possession; the deeds of its people are.
