Has the phenomenon of old people riding electric bicycles side by side arrived in Britain yet? Beware, because when it does, there will be much suffering and misery. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014 -
no but we do have some 'gentleman' with a mobility scooter and no consideration about here. One of these days I'll bump into him and topple him.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostHas the phenomenon of old people riding electric bicycles side by side arrived in Britain yet? The mobility scooter is a scourge, but the e-bike is a truly terrifying contraption. Old people who haven't cycled in years are suddenly propelled at 25km/h while their coordination levels have declined with the passing years to be effective at about 2.5km/h. Ring your bell to get past them and they rubberneck to see what's coming and of course lose all control of the heavy bicycle. Then they get angry and resort to internet fora where they bemoan the youth of today and demand legislation against lycra clad racing cyclists.Originally posted by vetran View Postno but we do have some 'gentleman' with a mobility scooter and no consideration about here. It sounds rather like they are spreading out from their ancestral home in the Netherlands. Tell me if they reach Paris or Milan someday; I might want to watch that.Originally posted by Dallas View Postyep

I'm going to get both an electric bike and a mobility scooter because I'm an anti-social bastard and just want to **** up everyone else. In fact there are some really cool ones around...“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

There was a thing in the UK not sure which exact town where younger folk were getting mobility scooters as they were a cheap way of getting around.Originally posted by darmstadt View PostI'm going to get both an electric bike and a mobility scooter because I'm an anti-social bastard and just want to **** up everyone else. My mother's got a scooter. She's bloody lethal on it - she goes fairly slowly but has zero awareness of what's going on around her. The police got her to do a 'test' on it - zig zagging through some cones. Never did quite suss out why, or what would have happened if she'd just mowed them all down. Perhaps it was just a slow day at the office.Comment
