Now OK, Britain was not recieving foreign aid AFAIK, but the Indians could quite reasonably claim that exploration is a part of development and may deliver economic benefits further down the line, just as Britain's explorations in the north and in Africa did.
Personally I think it's a bit of a spurious claim in this case, but the Indians could argue they're just following the example of countries which went through their technological development earlier.Comment

Most foreign aid seems to be used as a bribe for the foreign government.
We should be exporting Cherie Blair to India and let her create some human rights type laws?
A very small part of India is very rich, most of it is dirt poor. The Bob's we see are the upper class (and Caste) who could afford to go to University.
The government spend money on space exploration while sanitation and crops are ignored.
Should we give them aid? Not sure if it saves a few people dying from preventable diseases then probably. If it allows government officials to get richer whilst the poor starve then no.Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Comment

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment

Why are they even going to Mars? Can we not internationally to just let one agency go rather than duplicating effort and wasting billions?Comment
