I had a nurse friend, she said they were not permitted to cut patients nails because that was regarded as a surgical procedure so a doctor had to do it. There's a small example of a total waste of cash.

I agree re the repair work needing to be done. Can't have the place falling to pieces. A stitch in time and all that.... Although I bet 'in time' was 20 or 30 years ago.

My understanding is that they mainly distribute not dispense? I assume there is one specialist nurse that actually dispenses the rest are just delivery drivers and I assume the specialist is paid the same as a a Pharmacist who earns 34K.

Nurses have to deal with all the crap - both literal and metaphorical - from the patients. That alone deserves decent compensation

so do waitresses, care home workers and hotel staff. They seem to attract minimum wage.

I worded it wrongly. They do the job but they do not carry the can if things go wrong and nor are they accountable other than if they are woefully neglectful.

That's a totally bogus comparison - except maybe care-home workers, whom I would happily say are quite similar to nurses and should be treated as such.

A waiter does not have to deal with cleaning up bodily fluids. A waiter can kick out someone who is being a total arse. A waiter seems a customer for a few minutes in total and then they leave , not hour after hour, day after day.

Let us remember that nurses do not carry much responsibility and they are paid well enough as they are. A lot of them need a kick up the arse. The NHS needs reforming not feeding.

Some nurses are now managers and others do the job of GPs. I know both and am extremely thankful for the latter.

I still think we should spend the money on the palace of Westminster before we bomb it. The sense of occasion would be better than if it was just a ruin

A nurse can call 24 hour security and have the person restrained forcibly.

A waiter will have to mop up puke if a diner over indulges. Someone cleans the Toilets at restaurants. If its length of stay that is important then we can include hotel staff.

There are more people wanting to be nurses than places so its obviously not that bad. I'm all for paying nurses fairly but they need to remember that many other staff do harder or more unpleasant jobs for a lot less money.
