Lets face it, if someone with an Irish accent comes round your door offering work he lives in a caravan and lives a bit of thieving.

I'd never heard of travellers offering brazilliansOriginally posted by mudskipper View PostGot ripped off by travellers before. I am therefore suspicious of random callers with Irish accents even if my bush does need trimming.

let me see. Personal experience
'Mates' doing cash in hand tarmacking with Travellers.
Though the cash in hand bit is fairly pervasive. So I can't really just blame them, but they did a rubbish job of the Neighbours drive (too thin).
Travellers ripping off relatives, older friends.
Travellers turning up at my House saying my trees need cutting 'because the sap is rising'
Travellers stealing from my front lawn. Police were useless as usual.
Travellers turning up asking to take my rubbish away without a licence.
Travellers moving into hospital and beauty spot car parks leaving a mess that cost my council a fortune to clear up.
Travellers having a flexible view of personal tax, car insurance etc.
of course the reason I don't like Travellers is because I read the Daily Mail.Comment

Is that personal experience? Have you had a crash involving a traveller?Originally posted by vetran View PostWMSS

But the issue is that I assume any Irish accent at the door could be a traveller. If he'd had an English accent I may well have let him scrub my fascias (they need it!)Comment

I do that tooOriginally posted by rhubarb View Post, I just tell them we're renting and they go away quickly.
Works nicely with phonecalls offering crap too.

Don't feel bad about it - even people WITH Irish accents wouldn't let them tarmac the driveOriginally posted by mudskipper View PostGot ripped off by travellers before. That is true unfortunately, a couple of guys with english accents & with the right paperwork took some waste away for us on a door knock.
I resisted scrubber jokes!Comment

indeed - although I should say the 5 minutes I watched in disbelief before turning off the TV and going out to do something less boring instead re-enforced my views.Originally posted by minestrone View PostThe view that you watch tulip TV?Comment
