You're not unique and in fact rather brave to stand back and reflect (you may be unique on that score though).Originally posted by DieScum View PostYeah, I concede. It is bad form. On reflection it is hypocritical and small of me.
The question you really need to ask yourself is - had the guy/set-up appeared competent and 'with it' - would you have accepted the job? Also had the guy been white but still the same behaviour - would you still rejected the job?
Don't beat yourself up - you made the right decision for you - it wasn't a cultural fit made in heaven (irrespective of race, I suspect)."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

I work with some Indians and they are some of the nicest people I have worked with, one is now a friend. We also have Bobs… There is a difference."A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices," George OrwellComment

Oh absolutely, I wouldn't have accepted the role from anyone after that... but the question I am asking myself is I am just not being open to slightly different cultures? Is it just a different, but equally valid way, of expressing yourself.Originally posted by cojak View Post

As has been said I wouldn't come out of an interview talking about 'disabled' people so why should I dilute anyone else to one part of them?Comment

So lose what the guy looked like - he was just a gormless idiot.Originally posted by DieScum View PostOh absolutely, I wouldn't have accepted the role from anyone after that... but the question I am asking myself is I am just not being open to slightly different cultures? Why not? I would, if the interviewer was disabled then why not say it. Its not as if you're going to come out and say that you didn't take the job because your team lead was disabled as that would be wrong. Mind you, would you come out of an interview with a Frenchman and say he stank of garlic or spoke with a funny accent?Originally posted by DieScum View PostAs has been said I wouldn't come out of an interview talking about 'disabled' people so why should I dilute anyone else to one part of them?“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment
