When is a good deed not a good deed though ?

There is an old wise saying

'Give a man some foodbank and he will eat for a day. Throw it away and he will keep your bin clean for a week'

    or something like that

Indeed. Is it the deed or the motivation?

If my motivation is to reduce my time in purgatory, or even just to show you all how wonderfully generous I am, does that make it any less of a good deed than if I do it anonymously?

Good publicity their profits went down this half so showing that you are a "nice supermarket" may make more people shop with you - that is the people who can put up with your staff members rudeness.

It's like the Seinfeld episode where George throws 5 dollars in the tip jar in a café and when the staff member does not see it he tries to get it back to do it again which is spotted.

You have consistently paraded yourself as a hard done victim of a vicious and uncaring wife. Someone who has gone through thick and thin to look after his kids. You have gained sympathy from most on this site -including me. You are now showing a distinctly nasty side to your personality which frankly contradicts the image that you have tried so hard to paint. I will put this vicious personal attack of yours down to stress from elsewhere in your life. But I will ask you to take whatever is upsetting you elsewhere and not take it out on me.
