It's more that people couldn't possibly imagine ever making that decision. Ever.
This isn't about who has or hasn't got children (before you go jumping on me for that!!) it's simply about having first hand knowledge of being in that situation.Bazza gets caught

I didn't see the program, but from reading the papers it seemed to say that the current line of investigation is that this was a planned abduction. For it to be planned it must have meant that the perpetrator knew there would be unsupervised children there indicating it was not a "one-off" and they had left Maddie unsupervised before.
Peoples anger towards the McCanns is nearly always by parents and always in a way to make themselves look better.Comment

Seems there's a fair few Doris Stokes's around, how do people know she was kidnapped? How do they know that a 'sicko' took her? For all anyone knows she could have wandered off, fallen in the harbour, fallen down a hole. There is, so far, no proof as to what happened to her, just a load of hot air. As for everyone having a go at the parents, well there are many parents who have lost children who have never been found yet they're not in the media every single day and I think that if they just toned it down a bit then there wouldn't be all this criticism of them (we're getting it in bloody Germany now!)“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

Madeleine McCann: time to forget? - Telegraph
"On the night their daughter was snatched, the McCanns and seven other British couples in their party, dined in the complex, leaving all their children – in adjacent apartments – alone."
So not just them then.Comment
