So they become British, yes, but when it comes to the home nations rivalries they usually become English.
Ah, so we're just talking about sport? And sportspeople? Then they only become "English" for purely mercenary reasons. Much to the detriment of native youth development in the sporting arena.

Also, the only reason they have no reason to hate the English is because they've only recently arrived. Give it a few months....

Well of course they can. But I'd bet a hefty portion of my income those residents in Scotland that voted Tory were not Scottish. Those that voted Liberal, well they did no expect to be lied to too.

        'Not Scottish' by which standard?

I think it's fair to give the criteria for being considered 'Scottish' by the future Scottish government before people are asked to make an informed decision whether they want independence.

Based on the evidence, it would appear that to some poor, misguided, near-illiterate fools, the only way to truly be Scottish is to leave Scotland as soon as possible, go live and work abroad, but constantly proclaim "I'm Scottish, gie us me freeeeeeeedom!"

That's the biggest load of Betty Swollocks I've read in a long time. Scots and Tories are not mutually exclusive and it wasn't that long ago (1955) that the Conservatives had over 50% of the vote and half the seats in Scotland. And if anyone votes for any of the miserable shower of politicians we have and doesn't expect to get lied to then they don't deserve to have a vote.

You have some rather interesting ideas about how democracy will work in Scotland.
I think he's inferring that you have to be stupid to be Scottish, as only socialists can be 'twue' Scots

You make a fair point. I don't like most of them either.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

The Scottish government may do what the US government does - tax people on their world wide income if they have a Scottish passport.

In fact if Mr Salmond doesn't think of it I will write to him to suggest it - it's only fair.
