One thing I do see is that fewer and fewer children are starting smoking and that's a positive thing.

I also think the smoking ban has had a huge impact on peoples attitudes. Many people who used to smoke in their houses (and think it was acceptable to smoke in my house) are now going outside to smoke. The ban has caused a huge change it people's attitudes to what's acceptable and what's not.

Also, I think these new electronic cigarettes are going to make a huge impact in the next few years. A lot of smokers I know have switched and don't smoke tobacco any more.

The ONS has been spouting quite a bit of crap lately - perhaps they are worried they might get canned.

what incorrect data or looking at data in a way you don't agree with?

I did rather think this was in the 'demonising the unemployed' vein.

But I suspect the data is moderately accurate. It does show the work needs to be done with a subset of the population.

Don't get me wrong I'm in favour of the smoking ban mainly, I would have just done it in two phases to let the pubs etc adjust. I was expecting a large fall in smoking after it though because it was a great catalyst.

Indeed a friend of mine does that, horrifies me every time.
