Should Scotland be an independent country?

Well with a likely Tory majority it's quite likely! It'll be a new law just drafted, the patriot act, anyone one caught faulting it will be disposed of.Originally posted by aussielong View PostAnyone who votes for seperation should be forced to live in Scotland."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Maybe Scottish independence would be the motivational kick up the backside that an expensive minority of Scots need.Comment

That's a cruel and unusual punishment, perhaps they could use that for public drunkenness in EnglandOriginally posted by aussielong View PostAnyone who votes for seperation should be forced to live in Scotland.Doing the needful since 1827Comment

The OP is such a patriot, just like almost every other Scot you've ever heard of he can't stand to live in the country, yet feels the need to bore everyone else with tales of what a great country it is.Comment

It is a great country with a long love/hate history with the English.Originally posted by Ticktock View PostThe OP is such a patriot, just like almost every other Scot you've ever heard of he can't stand to live in the country, yet feels the need to bore everyone else with tales of what a great country it is.
I think many Scots do feel disempowered - maybe independence would give back national pride which, although intangible, I imagine goes a long way to economic success.Comment

It's an OK country. It's got a long invented history with the English for the most part, based in fact but then twisted, taught and believed.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostIt is a great country with a long love/hate history with the English.

I think it's hilarious how, working in an office in Edinburgh, the majority view I hear from the locals what a bad idea independance is likely to be, or at least the version of it so far being "proposed" (i.e. cloud cuckoo land from Alex Salmond with no substance as yet), while all you hear from those who've managed to crawl out of the country is how great independance will be.
I guess it's easy for them - if it goes ahead and all goes to tulip then they don't have to live there. If it works out then they can say "I told you so".Comment

Nah, you keep the house anyway because the children keep coming back because the world is not as easy as it seemed when they were funded and sheltered.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostAnd then the house grows quieter, and soon you're looking to downscale as you can no longer afford to look after such a big house.Comment
