Its a means of the child getting from home to school without the parents taking them they. Remember children don't have legs anymore and cannot walk long distances....

3k per term per kid for me at the moment. The fees are going to jump a lot as they get older.

We are paying £240 this year but it is planned to go up to £450 next year.

They get free school meals and other concessions, depending where they live. Many schools do NOT proscribe the cloths have to have logos but only the colours, so you can get them from Tesco/Asda if you need to - or buying second hand is a smart move.

My secondary school had an approved shop which was the only place in the world you could buy blazers, jumpers, etc.

At the local comp(well faith school) I have spent a small fortune in the last month. Uniforms (blazers, skirts and trousers) have to have school logo, all PE kit is perscribed. Raincoats have to be black with no logo, as do rucksacks. Shoes are black, sensible, lace-ups. I am surprised they don't specify the underwear.

I am surprised nobody made the obvious inappropriate joke.
