The best sort of intelligence for what purpose?
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

Perhaps smart rather than clever? Clever enough to know they don't need to be clever?

How does saying I feel sorry for your kid have anything to do with stupidity. The fact I don't think private schools are a good idea (or actually that good most of the time) is not an intelligence issue its one of personal preference.

The clue is in your own statement. It is stupid to believe your personal preference and anecdotal experience represents objective truth. I may have to add you to my sig soon.

To become rich while not doing very much. This does reflect a higher intelligence, since implicitly you're accepting that you don't really matter in cosmic terms, but are merely enjoying your time on earth.

If you assume that intelligent people want to not do very much. Many of them enjoy using their brains, rather than making money. Hence many smart people are academics.

But if academics condemn their families to live on the pittances they earn purely because they have fun using their brains, maybe they're being selfish rather than smart or intelligent?
