There are a many silly lefties too, people who "receive" their opinion from the Guardian, just as there are many stupid righties who "receive" their opinion from the Mail.
The ideas of both left and right have long intellectual histories and neither should be dismissed out of hand, as neither is truth - rather we should note that the happiest/most successful countries use a mixture of both.Hard Brexit now!

And where do you receive your opinion from? From the great cretin God? Or maybe from MrsSG?Originally posted by sasguru View PostThere are a many silly lefties too, people who "receive" their opinion from the Guardian, just as there are many stupid righties who "receive" their opinion from the Mail.

It's a good heuristic to suppose that the opposite of what the CUK cretins think must be true. And so it is.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostAnd where do you receive your opinion from?.

Hmm, no, even an idiot can be right by accident. But I agree on the use of heuristics; left/right can provide useful heuristics. Sometimes I think Marx diagnosed the problems of the 'workers' quite accurately, only to write out a disastrous prescription. Sometimes the 'right' get the diagnosis of social problems completely wrong, but their solution in seeking fiscal discipline and minimal regulation can work well in the long run, albeit with a lot of victims in the short term (who can then become long term victims without some support). So if you choose a left winged approach, you need to consider the 'right' side, which means allowing business and industry to get on with it; if you choose a 'right winged' approach, you need to consider that not everyone will be able to 'hack' it, and that can cause awful side effects that can become worse than the problem you're trying to solve, so you'll need a bit of 'leftiness' to help people along.Originally posted by sasguru View PostIt's a good heuristic to suppose that the opposite of what the CUK cretins think must be true.
